1855. Pioneers in shooting reportages appeared. Legendary Matthew Brody photographed for Illustrated London News. 1878. Four companies in England were producing gelatinous dry plates for lightening and expositions were shorter than 1/25sec. 1880. Frederic Ives invented half-tone block used for printing photographic news in New York Daily Graphic. 1887. Edward Muybridge photographed horse while racing and proved that horses lift all four legs when galloping. 1888. George Eastman introduced his box camera to the world. It had roll-film. Advertising campaign was very successful. Their motto was-You press the button, we do the rest. In this year Kodak Company was established.
1890. Detective cameras shaped like objects used in everyday life appeared. 1906. Discovered possibilities of contrasting film that could clearly separate black and white colour. It led to separation of high quality in colour photographs. J. P. Morgan financed Edward Curtis in order to document life of the North-American Indians. 1907. Lumiere brothers from France produced the first commercial colour film with auto chromatic plate. 1914. Oscar Barnack was hired by German manufacturer Leitz to develop camera that used 24x36 slides on 35mm wide perforated film
1931. Harold Edgerton developed strobe photograph at MIT. 1936.g. Kodak Chrome Company showed the first multilayer colour film and accelerated development of single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras. 1948. Hasselblad in Sweden presented their first SLR cameras of middle size in commercial purposes. 1954.g. Eastman Kodak presented Hi-speed Tri-X film.
1957. Russell Kirsch created the first scanner and programmed the computer which showed the photo of his son in resolution of 176 pixels. Size of the photo was 5x5cm. 1959. AGFA presented the first completely automatic camera, called Optima.
